NESHSW - NE Suffolk harsh sandy ware
Hard, harsh feel, abundant ill-sorted angular sand (grey, white and clear quartz, some flint), sparse to moderate mica, rare calcareous inclusions, rare rounded ferrous oxide. Generally brown on one or both surfaces with grey core, but sometimes fully reduced. Some sherds may be early medieval ware in the same fabric, but there are some developed rims.
Sample from Ilketshall.
