MSSBW - Medieval South Suffolk Blackware
Black surfaces and red margins/core, sometimes with black core. Very fine to medium sandy (clear, white, pink), soft to hard, contains sparse to common soft red ferrous oxide, burnt-out organics. Thin surfaces may be worn and appear red. Often quite fine and soft, and may be laminated into flakes.
