MCWG - Medieval Coarseware Gritty
Generic fabric group for gritty fabrics. Common to abundant medium to coarse quartz inclusions, sparse Fe, sometimes other local inclusions, such as chalk, in small quantities. Generally reduced throughout and less coarsely made than EMWG. Mainly occurs in the south and could be an Essex ware?
Example from Barking.
